CALGARY, AB — After months of waiting, Sam Bennett returned to action this past week and he did not disappoint in his 2014-15 debut with the Kingston Frontenacs.
On Wednesday, the Flames 2014 first round pick scored a goal, registered two assists, and was a plus-three in a 7-3 Kingston win over the Belleville Bulls.
“He’s a special player. It’s amazing playing with him. He finds open ice, you can hit him with passes well. It make the game that much easier when he is out there,” Roland McKeown told The Kingston Whig-Standard last week.
“Any time you get a player like (Bennett) back it gives a team a positive moral. That is exactly the way we took it. Everyone was uplifted. It made us feel more confident.”
Two nights later, Bennett collected an assist in the Frontenacs 3-0 victory over the Sudbury Wolves.
Through three games this season, the 18-year-old has four points. Bennett and Frontenacs are back in action on Wednesday when they square off against Mississauga. They currently sit seventh in the OHL’s Eastern Conference with a 24-26-8 record and 56 points.
