CALGARY, AB — Morgan Klimchuk has hit his stride with the Brandon Wheat Kings.

The Flames prospect went on a tear in the month of February, gathering eight goals and 17 points through 12 games, and now sits third in team scoring with 27 goals and 61 points through 51 outings this season.

The 20-year-old has points in his last seven games and was held pointless just twice in February. He had five multi-point outings and was a plus-11 last month.

“You love his work ethic, his compete,” Flames assistant general manager Craig Conroy said of Klimchuk. “Morgan’s got a bright future.”

The Wheat Kings acquired the winger on Jan. 2, bolstering the already-powerful Brandon forward group in an effort to make a run at the Memorial Cup.

“He has played very well,” said head coach/GM Kelly McCrimmon told the Regina Leader Post. “He has a huge impact every time he plays, not just offensively but penalty kill, four-on-four situations – all the things (people in Regina) know. He really helped our dressing room to put another older player in there, a guy who’s looking to win. He’s going to be a pro. He brings that professionalism and focus to our team.”
